The Provincial Chairperson of CONTRALESA in the Eastern Cape, Nkosi Mwelo Nokonyana, says the African National Congress (ANC) played an immense role in recognising traditional leaders in the country.

Nokonyana was speaking on the sidelines ahead of the party’s Siyanqoba Rally held at Sisa Dukashe in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape. He says the party has developed policies that include the role they play in society.
“Of course, we still have some challenges as traditional leaders. But the ANC is the only organisation that has actually given us a platform to do so, because we did agree in case the ANC needs to amend the Constitution of the Republic, to give powers and functions to the institution of traditional leadership and koisan, and as we speak, there is a law that is being amended, the koisan leadership, to merely address the concern that we have.”
