The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) predicts that all three metros in the Gauteng province will remain hung councils.

With 23% of voting districts declared in the province, the Democratic Alliance (DA) is leading the vote share.

In the Ekurhuleni Metro, it is predicted that the DA will have the highest share of the votes with 29%.

According to the CSIR, the African National Congress (ANC) is predicted to lose part of its 2021 share of the vote to ActionSA and the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) in Ekurhuleni.

In the City of Joburg, it’s projected that the DA will win the metro with 33% of the votes, followed by the ANC with 20% and then ActionSA at 16%.

In Tshwane, the DA is predicted to have the highest proportion of the votes with 31%, followed by ActionSA with 23% and the ANC with 20%.

This is a massive increase for ActionSA, which received 9% of the votes in Tshwane in 2021.
