SACP unsurprised as Thabazimbi records another hung council

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Thabazimbi Local Municipality in Limpopo says it is not surprised by the local government election outcomes, which saw the municipality declared a hung council once again.
Thabazimbi is now a hung council for a third consecutive time since 2016. The current results show that neither of the contesting parties gained an outright majority.
The African National Congress (ANC) produced 29 %, while the Democratic Alliance (DA) attained 19%.
The SACP managed 12% of the votes.
The Provincial Spokesperson of the party, Charley Nkadimeng says the outcomes are concerning.
“The outcome of elections in Thabazimbi is not even surprising seriously. The people of Thabazimbi indeed have been suffering for a period of time because of a lack of leadership, lack of vision, instability in the municipality, issues of corruption and maladministration. As the SACP, we’ll go back and talk to communities, and free them from this bondage of maladministration and corruption.”
