Traffic has been disrupted along the P522 Machibini Road in Jozini, northern KwaZulu-Natal. Members of Jozini Congress have allegedly barricaded the road amid dissatisfaction over the recent elections results in the ward.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport says it is monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the department is urging motorists to exercise caution on the roads as heavy rainfall persist across parts of the province.

Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says one person has been injured after a light motor vehicle overturned at Park Rynie along the N3 on the south coast of the province.

“The MEC has received a report from our dedicated Road Inspectorate Team. The team is continuously monitoring traffic throughout the corners of the province of KwaZulu-Natal; we are experiencing heavy rainfall throughout eThekwini. One accident has been reported in Park Rynie along the N3. RTI is attending to that accident. We have also received the report from RTI of a disruption on traffic along P522 in Jozini,” says Sibiya.
