The Komani Progress Action (KPA) was established as a civil movement in January 2023 after multiple attempts to dissolve the Eastern Cape’s Enoch Mgijima Municipality failed. The KPA led subsequent local protests and shutdowns over service delivery collapses before formally registering with the IEC ahead of the May 2024 general election. The KPA secured only 976 votes in the Eastern Cape provincial ballot, failing to win a single seat in the legislature. **The KPA is led collectively by Mncedisi Mbengo (convenor), Axolile Masiza (secretary-general), and Solomzi Nkwentsha (chairperson).
