LABOUR

About the party

The Labour Party of South Africa (Labour) was established following a resolution taken at the 2023 Special National Congress of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) and officially registered with the IEC on March 5, 2024. Labour’s interim leader is also AMCU leader Joseph Mathunjwa. He has positioned the party as a necessary response to a “failed political system” and weak legislative representation that he believes sideline the ordinary worker.
