About the party

The Vhembe Independent Party (VIP) is a Limpopo-based party founded in June 2026 by a coalition of former independent political candidates who previously contested the 2021 South African local government elections. As a community-funded movement, the VIP focuses heavily on local government reform and direct civic representation. The party campaigns strongly for structural municipal changes, promising to eliminate service delivery backlogs and introduce localised infrastructure adjustments to the villages surrounding areas like Louis Trichardt. The upcoming municipal poll in November will mark the organisation's debut election.
