The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has ruled that the African National Congress (ANC) decision to remove National Executive Committee (NEC) member Andile Lungisa from its proportional representation (PR) candidate list for Nelson Mandela Bay was unconstitutional and unlawful.

Lungisa approached the court to challenge his removal from the list and seek his reinstatement as an ANC candidate.

The court has declared the removal invalid and of no force or effect, ordering the ANC to take steps to reinstate him on the list.
