The African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa, will campaign for votes for the party, in the Cape Town metro this weekend.

Ramaphosa is expected to kick off with a campaign in Athlone with door to door visits and ending the day with a public meeting in Mfuleni.

On Sunday, Ramaphosa will start his campaign trail at a church service in Khayelitsha.

He will follow it up with door to door visits in the area and again end it with a public meeting at Monwabisi Park.

Various other office bearers of the party will be deployed in other parts of the country.

In a statement sent out by the party, its secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, is not scheduled for any campaigning.

Mbalula collapsed on Thursday, while addressing the media after the Constitutional Court ruled in favour of the ANC in the case against the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The party had challenged an Electoral Court ruling in favour of the IEC, which excluded its 181 candidates from contesting elections in six municipalities.

It has been reported that Mbalula was receiving medical attention.
