Election posters on electric infrastructure pose safety risk: Eskom

Eskom has warned against placing election posters on electricity infrastructure, due to safety risks.
It says posters on electricity poles, transformers and substations can damage critical infrastructure.
The power utility appealed to people not to place election posters, banners, or any promotional material on electricity infrastructure. The warning comes less than three weeks ahead of the Local Government Elections set for the 4th of November.
Eskom Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says, “While electioneering is an important part of the democratic process. Electricity infrastructure must not be used for advertising of promotional purposes due to the significant safety risks involved.”
