EFF pledges to end nepotism in municipal recruitment

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has pledged to end alleged nepotism in municipal recruitment if his party is elected to govern. He took his campaign to Thembisa, as the EFF seeks to capture the mayoral chains in Ekurhuleni.
With the November 4 municipal elections fast approaching, EFF leader Julius Malema is crisscrossing the country, rallying support for his party.
“They only hire their fellow African National Congress (ANC) members. We will put an end to that. We will hire the children of Thembisa through an open process. Everyone will get a job,” says Malema.
Malema has also promised to exempt indigent households from paying municipal rates and service charges under an EFF-led government.

“Nthabiseng, our mayoral candidate, must get a list of social grants beneficiaries at South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), and tell the municipality to exempt them from paying electricity and water, because they get paid by SASSA,” he adds.
The party’s supporters believe Malema has the solutions to the challenges facing their communities.
“What the CIC is saying, I am 100% sure it’s going to happen. The problem is that people are comparing the CIC to the ruling government. The best approach is to give the CIC an opportunity. If he fails, we can say, ‘We gave you an opportunity, but you failed. Now, we’re taking you out’,” says an EFF supporter.
The President and Commander-in-Chief, @Julius_S_Malema, addressed his second community meeting today in Ekurhuleni, emphasising the importance of voting to bring about change.
For too long, our people have endured these living conditions, and the time has come for them to exercise their democratic right and shape the future they deserve. On 4 November 2026, every vote will be an opportunity to demand change and hold local government accountable.

“I see many organisations here. They’re battling for one position. So, I think the EFF will be the best because many are called but few are chosen. May the people of South Africa please choose the EFF because the priority of the EFF is land and jobs, and opportunity for the youth,” adds another supporter.
“In the 2021 municipal elections, the EFF secured 13% of the vote, in Ekurhuleni, up from 11%, in 2016,” says a supporter.

“Well, we have done what we were supposed to do as the EFF. We’ve fulfilled all our commitments, but the people must be allowed to choose whoever. We do hope that this time the community of Ekurhuleni have seen the work we’ve done as the EFF and that they’ll continue to give us their votes,” says EFF Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Nthabiseng Tshivhenga.
The EFF will hold its final national election rally next Saturday at Orlando Stadium, in Soweto.
