BOSA calls for ethical leadership to fix municipalities

Build One South Africa (BOSA) says ethical political leadership must be the starting point for fixing South Africa’s struggling municipalities.
Speaking at the party’s final community rally in Finetown Johannesburg, party leader Mmusi Maimane says BOSA would prioritise tackling corruption before appointing competent municipal executives and improving financial management.
Maimane says municipalities must be able to collect and spend revenue effectively to restore basic services, stimulate local economic growth and improve public safety.
“You are never going to fix a city unless you begin by getting the most ethical leaders to stand up. Our history in this country is of people who are corrupt, who capture municipalities. So, our first priority is to sort out the political leadership.”
