The Home Affairs Department says its offices across the country will operate extended hours, from 7am to 9pm, on election day to assist eligible voters who need to collect their identity documents or apply for temporary identity certificates.

Walk-ins will be allowed, meaning citizens do not need to make the usual online bookings.

The extended operating hours are aimed at ensuring that voters who may have lost or misplaced their IDs can still access the necessary documents to cast their ballots.

Home Affairs Deputy Director-General Thulani Mavuso says, “The Department of Home Affairs will be open on the fourth of November. And we will attend to those people who want to apply for temporary identity certificates or for those that have lost their identity documents.”
