MK Party to hold final election rally in KwaMashu on Sunday

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party will hold its final election rally at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, north of Durban, on Sunday as it prepares to contest its first local government elections.
The party made its electoral debut in the 2024 general elections.
It’s now seeking to translate its support into municipal seats with eThekwini among its key targets.
More than 70 political parties are contesting 112 wards in the metro.
The MK Party in eThekwini has encountered a number of challenges in the build-up to the elections. These include the removal from the eThekwini candidate list of the disgruntled councillor candidates.
The move raised questions about internal unity.
However, MK Party eThekwini regional chairperson Mkhanka Zuma says they remain confident about their electoral prospects despite these challenges.
“As the MK Party, like all other parties, as an organisation that is growing at a very fast speed, we do experience challenges daily. But firstly, I’d like to think these councillors will have been affected by the list manipulation processes for taking a stand that they are going to be voting for the MK Party. They have put the personal interest aside and placed the interest of the organisation forward. I can confidently tell you that we are going to win a municipality between 60 and 72%. Before, we just had this fear that our comrades would never declare the standing. They called a meeting last week, and they have stated that regardless of what has happened during the council selection process they are going to be voting for the MK Party.”
MKP leader Jacob Zuma may make his first appearance following weeks away from public engagements after his hospitalisation. In his first public address, delivered online, on Friday evening, Zuma urged South Africans to turn out in large numbers and vote for the MK Party.
