Complaints won’t delay final election results: IEC KZN

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in KwaZulu-Natal explains that complaints lodged regarding the election results will not prevent the announcement of the final results, as the submissions do not fulfil the legal requirements for formal objections under Section 65.
The commission says it had received a total of 446 objections by around 2 pm on Saturday.
The MK Party has called on the IEC not to declare the final election results until all outstanding objections have been addressed.
“We expected 14 245 results slips across all municipalities that’s include results slip for word pilots, pure ballots for local consoles and pure pallets for local districts. All of them are in, now where we are the commission is investigating all the objections that have been launched. As it from around two today we have received 400 and 46th objections, the could’ve been more but some of them do not meet the legal requirements of a section 65 objection. So they are treated as complaints because they don’t have material impacts on the results. So out of those 446, eight have been withdrawn by the people have launched them and two have been upheld,” says IEC KZN electoral officer Ntombifuthi Masinga.
