Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Velankosi Hlabisa has expressed his gratitude and satisfaction with their performance in the 2026 local government elections so far.

Speaking to the SABC in Midrand, Hlabisa says for the first time they have won four wards in Soweto and one in Alexandra.

“In Gauteng, we are really impressed about the support. We made in roads in the townships in Soweto. We won four wards which is the first time ever since we’ve been campaigning in these areas. In Alexandra, we also won a ward, which is very humbling support we have received from the people of South Africa.”
