ANC in KZN threatens to take DA to Electoral Court over its billboard

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has threatened to take the Democratic Alliance (DA) to the Electoral Court over its controversial billboard put up last week in Durban.
The giant billboard was put up along the N2 near Newlands East, north of Durban, featuring eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba and two city senior officials with the words: “You can stop the water mafia”.
The property owner took down after complaints.
Speaking at an ANC election campaign event in Durban, ANC Provincial Task Team convenor Mike Mabuyakhulu says the billboard was reckless gimmick, and it violated the recently signed Electoral Code of Conduct.
He called on the IEC to speak out on the matter.
“All parties signed the Code of Conduct on the 29th of September. We also signed the Code of Disinformation that we will not be able to allow anyone underhand tactics to try and have an edge in these elections. We think it was completely irresponsible and we think it was in breach of the Code of Conduct as well as the Code of Disinformation. So, we are looking at that matter and we think action must be taken. It may be down, but action must be taken.”
