Councillors’ Corner #6 | ANC’s Motha accounts for Mkhondo’s Ward 14
With the Electoral Commission’s (IEC) Online Candidate Nomination process for political parties or independent candidates over and the Local Government Elections looming, sitting municipal councillors have about two months to wrap up their work.
In this week’s edition of Councillors’ Corner, our Digital News producer Lebo Tshangela speaks with the African National Congress (ANC) Ward 14 Councillor in Mpumalanga’s Mkhondo Local Municipality, Nhlanganiso Motha.
His ward, which primarily covers areas within Harmony Park such as Subsidy and Thembalabasha, faces disruption to water supply due to prolonged periods of load reduction.
Motha says he has tried to remain visible and active in the community during his tenure.
“I have worked with residents to address their issues such as roads, speed humps, and cleaning campaigns. I tried by all means to be there instead of waiting for people to give me solutions…One of the things I’m most proud of is working with elderly people, people with disabilities and vulnerable families.”
