EFF pledges to revive Nelson Mandela Bay infrastructure

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) mayoral candidate in the Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape, Sinawo Thambo, says the party will focus on reviving the city’s infrastructure should they win the November 4th local government elections in the metro.
Thambo says the city’s infrastructure needs major rehabilitation.
The EFF has held an election campaign rally at Motherwell in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. Thambo says they will also professionalise the administration.
“Look, the foremost plan of the EFF in Mandela Bay is a massive infrastructure rehabilitation programme because the fixing of our infrastructure in a piecemeal fashion, where you fix one streetlight after the other or one portole after the other … it’s a non-sustainable model. Secondly, we need to rehabilitate recreational facilities such as sporting grounds, art centres, and studios so that we can rescue the youth of this city from drug abuse and alcohol abuse. Thirdly, we need to professionalise administration and fill vacancies, which exist because that is what feeds corruption and tendering. The lack of professionals and the lack of executive directors has led to the collapse of Nelson Mandela Bay.”
