Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says he is hopeful there will be tolerance among political parties during the November 4th Local Government Elections.

Lesufi was speaking to SABC News in Midrand where the province’s political parties and independent candidates signed the Electoral Code of Conduct.

He says all parties should be able to campaign in any area of their choice.

“Hence the importance of the presence of the commissioner of the police. Their task is they have to defend democracy. Those (who) come to vote, they must be safe and know they can exercise their vote. There must be no no-go area. Every area must be accessible to political parties. And I am pleased all parties have signed the pledge and that pledge is simple open up,” says Lesufi.
