Voters endure harsh EC weather to cast their ballots

Heavy rains are making it difficult for some voters in the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape to reach polling stations, but the IEC says voting stations in the Alfred Nzo East area are fully operational.
Specialised trucks were used to transport ballot papers along muddy rural roads. Despite the challenging conditions, some voters have made their way to polling stations.
Sizwe Ndlovu is among those who braved the weather to cast his vote early. “It was a challenge for people to vote considering the rain. They are staying far from voting stations and they don’t have means to travel or money and it’s difficult to find transport in this harsh weather. When it comes to voting, I think it’s a right everyone should exercise in the country; we all should be involved in the affairs of the country.”
