About the party
The Abantu Bezwelethu Congress Democracy (ABCD) was founded in August 2026 by Sabelo Sithole following his split from the Philani Mavundla-led Abantu Batho Congress (ABC). Sithole, a municipal councillor and chief whip in KwaZulu-Natal's Alfred Duma Local Municipality, launched the party to contest regional local government elections with a specific focus on the Alfred Duma Local Municipality in Ladysmith. The 4 November municipal election will mark the ABCD's political debut.
