About the party

The People’s Movement for Change (PMC) was formed in late 2023 by Marius Fransman, the former African National Congress (ANC) chairperson for the Western Cape and formally launched that December. As a grassroots alternative focusing on community engagement, accountability, and service delivery, the PMC targets disillusioned voters. The party contested its first election during the Theewaterskloof municipal by-election in Grabouw (Ward 10) on 10 December 2025, outperforming several larger parliamentary parties to finish fourth out of ten candidates.
