COPE says willing to form coalitions after local polls

The Congress of The People (COPE) says the party is willing to form coalitions after the local government elections.
This as the country gears up for local polls which will take place next week.
Gauteng provincial chairperson Thomas Mofokeng says coalitions are beneficial to voters and not to the party.
COPE says that there is coalition instability in South Africa as major parties fight amongst themselves for power.
Mofokeng has urged South Africa to study the model of Scandinavian countries.
“Coalitions have been very unstable because of the parties that call themselves main parties because they have their own differences, they fight their own battles and they want to grab as much power as possible. So, the first thing that this country has to be exposed to is to study what other countries are doing when it comes to coalition. We’ve got Scandinavian countries running coalitions very smoothly for over 45 years.”
