The Democratic Alliance (DA) has secured an outright majority in the Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape, following the conclusion of voter results capture in the municipality.

This is the party’s third consecutive majority vote in the town after securing it in 2016 and 2021.

The African National Congress (ANC) came in second, followed by the Patriotic Alliance (PA).

The DA secured the win while growing the number of seats from 16 to a comfortable majority of 18 seats in a 30-seat council.

The ANC, on the other hand, lost three seats since the last elections, decreasing the number from 11 to eight seats.

Meanwhile, the PA gained a seat, from one seat to two seats, becoming the third-biggest party in this council.

Freedom Front Plus retained one seat in council, moving it down one spot to the fourth position in this municipality.
