Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba says she is encouraged by the number of youth who voted in Local Government Elections (LGE).

According to the IEC, 12 million people casted their votes across the country by 5 pm on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Polokwane, Ramathuba says it is encouraging to see young people participating in shaping of democracy.

She says, “That narrative of apathy amongst our young people is begin to fade away, hence I’m saying we are really excited when we see this development, which is beginning to show that we had a phase where young people were not interested in participating in the politics which determine their future.”

Ramathuba adds, “Now, today (Wednesday) they are saying there’s no future about us without us. You can’t tell us that we are the leadership of tomorrow, we start today by leading in the ballot paper to go and vote.”
