SACP says EC councillor killing could be politically motivated

The South African Communist Party (SAC) in the Eastern Cape has condemned the brutal killing of its ward candidate in the Mbhashe Local Municipality.
Ernest Fipaza was gunned down at his home in Dutywa on Friday.
Police have opened a case of murder and no arrests have been made yet.
Provincial SACP spokesperson Xolani Malamlela has not ruled out the possibility that the matter may have been politically motivated.
“We are saddened because it was a shock to us. We don’t know why this happened, but we suspect because he was our candidate in that rd. So, it’s possible other political parties might (be involved). We are not saying they are responsible but might because it’s campaigning season now.”
