The Batho Pele Movement (BPM) was launched on June 1, 2021, by a former leader of the African Transformation Movement (ATM) and former Democratic Alliance (DA) Eastern Cape provincial chair, Veliswa Mvenya. The party's core values include accountability, responsibility, respect and diversity. The BPM achieved its most notable electoral outcome in the 2021 local government election when it secured 1 proportional representation (PR) seat in the Mnquma Local Municipal council.
