About the party
The Socialist Revolutionary Workers Party (SRWP) was officially launched in April 2019 by Irvin Jim, the General Secretary of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), following a major falling out between NUMSA and the ANC-aligned labour federation COSATU. The labour union was eventually expelled by COSATU after it publicly criticised government corruption and called for the resignation of then-President Jacob Zuma. The SRWP adheres to Marxism-Leninism and revolutionary communism.
