About the party
The GOOD party was formed on December 2, 2018, and is led by its founder, Patricia de Lille, the current Minister of Tourism and former mayor of Cape Town. In its maiden local government elections in 2021, the GOOD party contested 45 municipalities, resulting in 51 of its candidates being elected as councillors. For the upcoming municipal elections, the GOOD party announced an agreement to merge forces with Build One South Africa (BOSA) and RISE Mzansi under a new, single political alliance. The parties later decided to contest the November elections individually. However, GOOD and RISE Mzansi agreed to a smaller, separate regional cooperation agreement in certain areas.
