ActionSA condemns killing of KZN political activist Victoria Mkhize

Police in KwaZulu-Natal have condemned the killing of political activist Victoria Ntombi Mkhize in KwaMaphumulo, north of Durban.
Mkhize was allegedly stabbed with a knife and then strangled to death outside her home in the Manyameni area yesterday.
The 63-year-old was the mother of an ActionSA ward candidate in the iLembe District Municipality.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Paul Magwaza says an investigation is underway.
“Police in KwaMaphumulo have opened a murder case following the incident in which a 63-year-old woman was found death in the eMnyameni area on 1 November 2026. The victim was discovered lying on the pathway with visible injuries and bruises around her neck. The motive for the killing is currently unknown. Police investigations continue.”
ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal says the killing, which comes just days before the local government election, is deeply concerning.
Provincial chairperson, Zwakele Mncwango says: “We mourn the brutal killing of our activist and a mother to our ward 11 candidate in KwaMaphumulo. At the moment we don‘t know the motive of the killing, we are hoping police will investigate and really get all who are behind this brutal killing. But also we are equally concerned that such is happening just a few hours before the voting.”
