About the party
The Land Party of South Africa (LAND) was established on January 14, 2019, by Gcobani Ndzongana following land and housing protests in Zwelihle (Hermanus), Western Cape, in 2018. The party is heavily focused on local government, building on momentum from a December 2020 by-election where they managed to win Ward 12 in the Overstrand Local Municipality from the ANC. In the November 2021 municipal elections, they successfully retained presence in their core target areas, winning 2 seats in the Overstrand council.
