ATM

About the party

The African Transformation Movement (ATM) was formed in October 2018 by the South African Council of Messianic Churches in Christ. The ATM contested its first-ever municipal election in 2021, winning 53 seats in local councils countrywide. The party subsequently joined several local government coalitions and occupied the mayoral position in the Mogale City Local Municipality. The current party leader, Professor Caesar Nongqunga, was elected in June 2026, a month before the ATM officially cut ties with the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and announced that it would field candidates in more than 4,000 wards across all South African municipalities.
