ANC in KZN to hold multi-faith prayer gathering ahead of polls

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal will hold a multi-faith prayer gathering this Thursday morning ahead of the Local Government Elections.
Led by provincial convenor Michael Mabuyakhulu, the gathering will bring together religious and traditional leaders, faith-based organisations and ANC members to promote peace, tolerance and stability.
The party is calling on political parties and their supporters to reject violence and ensure that communities can exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.
Earlier this month, ANC Umgababa Ward 98 coordinator, Lungani Makhathini, was on a door-to-door campaign with fellow ANC members when three unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing him and another female volunteer and injuring several others.
In Katlehong, four people believed to be African National Congress (ANC) Youth League members were killed when a gunman allegedly opened fire on them as they returned from a memorial service of an ANC member.
