About the party
The Active African Christians United Movement (AACUM) evolved from Pastors Against Church Closure (PACC), a civil rights group formed by church leaders protesting the South African government's COVID-19 lockdown limits on places of worship. The party was officially registered on August 11, 2022, by Apostle and legal advocate, Moafrika Wa Maila and is rooted in Christian nationalism and faith-based social conservatism. The party failed to meet the compliance criteria under Section 27 of the Electoral Act due to portal upload issues, which legally excluded them from contesting the May 2024 national and provincial ballots. AACUM contested by-elections in Ditsobotla (November 2022), Mangaung (July 2023), and Greater Letaba (September 2023).
